Production & Income generation

SJTI has 3 commercial workshops, which offers good quality services to the public. They are all equipped with excellent machinery and skilled personnel. The sections are run commercially with the purpose of supporting the educational section.

Carpentry & Joinery Workshop is offering machine services, production of furniture & fittings, and there is always a variety of seasoned timber in stock.

The workshop also does site work and has been taking part in e.g. building the Rwenzori Travelers Inn in Fort Portal.

Working with natural materials such as timber, it is crucial to take an environmental friendly approach. The approach is being successfully implemented by using, not endangered timber species such as Eucalyptus combined with in high quality standards and a “fresh” design

Motor Vehicle Garage is offering service and repair, engine overhauling incl. crankshaft grinding, re-surfacing, re-boring etc. also panel beating & spraying, wheel balancing and alignment, and vehicle wiring is offered.

The Garage-shop sell rainwater gutters, vehicle spares, engine oil, acid and de-ionized water for batteries.

The garage is the biggest and best-equipped garage in western Uganda.

It can carry out most service and repairs of motorbikes, saloon cars, 4x4s, busses and lorries.

Presently the garage is maintaining vehicles for Uganda Wildlife Authority, Makerere Field Station, and SATNET and others

Mechanical Engineering workshop is equipped with lathe machines, drilling and milling machines, shapers, welding and, metal fabrication equipment.

The workshop manufacture roof trusses and metal structures for construction, as well as windows, doors, tools and spares.

Furthermore, The Mechanical Engineering workshop is manufacturing water tanks, solar water heaters, solar cookers, and energy saving stows.

The Workshop is the biggest and best equipped in western Uganda and is capable of taking-on any contract within the field of Mechanical Engineering.
